RXR Realty - Brooklyn, NY
Curation - Production
We were approached by RXR Realty to bring to life a massive wall in the courtyard of one of their new residential properties at 475 Clermont in Brooklyn. Choosing to play with the scale of the wall, we partnered renown muralist Mona Caron to bring back nature into the space.
While conceptualizing the project, it felt important to have the artwork be more than a simple visual and aesthetic piece. We organized meetings between the artist and officials from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Greenbelt Native Plant Center to understand what plants might have been indigenous to Brooklyn so that the mural could not only bring a moment of ‘respiration’ for the building’s residents to enjoy but also subtly speak of being ‘rooted here.’ The plant chosen, the Black Cohosh, was also integrated in the building’s landscaping and the mural became a huge part of the property’s signature identity.
