Great Bowery - New York City

Production

Shepard Fairey was commissioned by Louisa St. Pierre for Great Bowery to create a symbol of empowerment on the water tower sitting atop the historic 190 Bowery building in Lower Eastside. Choosing to portray actress and activist Rosario Dawson who grew up in the neighborhood and is still very much involved in its community through The Lower Eastside Girls Club amongst other initiatives, the mural serves as a symbol of power and equality as highlighted in New York City’s creative culture.

We stepped in to manage the project’s production in partnership with Overall Murals which involved specific logistics, staffing, equipment and permitting due to location, surface and scope. ‘Power and Equality’ will remain on view in LES for the next 6 years.
